If you are looking for affordable vacation rentals in Mexico, there are several cities located a short drive over the U.S./Mexico Border that offer some great furnished rentals. Crossing the border in Nogales Arizona to Nogales Mexico will take you to Mexico Highway #15, which takes you south to San Carlos. San Carlos is a favorite with sport fishermen and divers due to the clear blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. Surrounded by beautiful mountains and ocean waters, you will find a variety of homes and condominiums rentals available with online bookings and onsite management. At the border crossing from Lukeville Arizona into Sonoyta Mexico, you will find Mexico Highway #8, which takes you south to Puerto Penasco, Rocky Point, Mexico. Rocky Point is a longtime favorite with travelers from all over the U.S. mainly because of the relaxed atmosphere and enjoyable activities and attractions. Many people have stayed in the smaller hotels in the past, or maybe at a local R.v. park and camp ground. Now, in 2009, you have the option to stay in a beautiful fully furnished resort or beach home rental in just about every location around town. Just a short drive from San Diego California is the Tijuana border crossing which can take you south on Mexico Highway #1 to Rosarito Mexico. Rosarito is another town that has a large repeat following. Rosarito is host to several International events like the Rosarito/Ensenada 50 Mile Bike Ride and the Baja 1000, and has some popular Surfing beaches as well. In Rosarito, you will find short term and long term rentals, and many with a gorgeous view of the ocean.

When you sit down and begin to plan your next family vacation to Mexico, you have several travel options depending on your final destination. You can choose a flying destination or a driving destination. Mexico is a very large country, and a great place to explore no matter how you get there. There are destinations you can fly to, such as Cancun, Acapulco and Mazatlan, and they are destination on the ocean. Then there are a few great driving destinations on the ocean as well, like San Carlos, Puerto Penasco, Ensenada and Rosarito Beach, Baja Mexico. Each city mentioned has a long list of reasons why visitors come back year after year. Cancun, Mexico, is famous for the gorgeous beaches that line the shores along the Caribbean. One of Acapulco’s most famous attractions is the brave cliff divers. Mazatlan, Mexico, is nestled between the warm blue waters of the Pacific Ocean and the rugged jungle terrain of the Sierra Madre Mountains. San Carlos, Mexico, is especially famous for the warm and clear waves of its ocean water. Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) is one of the most popular driving destinations with travelers from all over the world. Ensenada is host to many international events each year. Finally, Rosarito Beach has been famous since 1927, when the Rosarito Beach Hotel was opened and began hosting international celebrities one after another.

Some of the most memorable vacations I have taken have been traveling with my lovely wife of 8 years to various cities throughout Mexico, including San Carlos, Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) and Rosarito. Each location has a wonderful bit of history to share, and a very relaxed and welcome atmosphere. San Carlos, which has been described as “Sedona Arizona with an Ocean”, has a beautiful blend of surrounding mountains that dive right into the clear blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. The people are always so friendly, greeting you with a smile and a handshake. Puerto Penasco, commonly called Rocky Point, is a wonderful fishing village that boasts a variety of great local restaurants, wonderful resorts and beach homes for rent, and a large variety of ocean and land activities to choose from. This location is very popular with travelers from Arizona since it is only a 4 hour drive from Phoenix or Tucson to Puerto Penasco . Rocky Point has been nicknamed “Arizona’s Beach” for this very reason. Our third destination we mentioned is Rosarito, which is one of my personal favorites. My wife and I found such a rich history in Rosarito as we visited the local shops and restaurants and talked to some of the towns people, and everyone was so friendly and courteous. Vacations are meant to be a time of exploration and relaxation, enjoyed in a perfect balance together.
